7/21/12
Sunny and clear! I thought it was super smoggy in Beijing, but turns out it was just the fog. I usually hate sunny days because it's usually so hot, but it was cool, clear and beautiful! Most days after a rainy period are cool because the rain cools of the earth, which is nice.
We were told that there were two types of breakfast during our stay- Continental and Traditional Chinese. We decided to try it out that day...
We had to go down to the lobby to eat there- I loved the interior, and it was really quiet and practically empty- for good reason.
When they said it was traditional, it really was traditional. I feel like older people would like the food there better, and I was right, as all the families were upstairs, and the only people in the restaurant were my family and some elderly people in the very back.
Some pancake-y thingy.
Spring rolls that I took a bite of and my stomach punched me.
Dumplings! Too much ginger (I am not a fan of excessive ginger)
Fried rice that wasn't very good.
I forget what this is, but besides congee, they had things you could make your own soup with whatever you wanted and my father created this.
Cute and lonely ba pao.
Fried dumplings that tasted good but my stomach pushed them out.
Went back upstairs and ate a little with my sister because my stomach does not expand (see it hates me) and I filled up a bit from eating here and there at the Chinese breakfast.
After breakfast we had a choice of walking around Tiananmen Square or driving around- we opted for the latter because it was getting quite hot, and it was really crowded.
It's packed, as you can see
After driving around Tiananmen Square, we went to the Forbidden City
Despite the hot sun, it was really nice that day!
The willow trees gave some shade, it was so beautiful.
At the entrance.
There were tons of tourist groups, and just lots of people in general
Female lion... you can tell the difference because the female is stepping on a child and a male is stepping on a ball.
My sister and I laughed a lot because it's stepping on it's child.
The Forbidden City is huge, we only covered a tiny part of it. It was really crowded, hot, and I was pushed around a lot .___.
After visiting the Forbidden City, we started for the Great Wall, since we couldn't visit it the day before because of the rain.
The scenery on the way there was so beautiful. ; ;
I have 945839 more pictures of scenery, but that would probably bore you, so moving onto the actual wall itself.
We went to Badaling, which is the most visited section
When you walked up the stairs, there were two different directions you could go in. This is a picture of the one we didn't walk on (we should've though) because it was so crowded.
We made the mistake of walking on the considerably less filled (but it was still pretty crowded imo) but much steeper way. = =
We only made it past 2-3 towers before we were exhausted, but the view was amazing.
After the Great Wall, we went back to our hotel and ate some food.
The tiramisu was so good omgah. The cream wasn't sickening at all.
tiny burgers!
They were adorable and really good. Danie ate hers in one bite.
Setting sun from our room's window.
I went to the pool, but since Danie didn't go I really just soaked in the hot water and boiled myself for a long time.
